Meet Maja Armitage – Siron Clinical’s new Clinical Trial Manager

by | Mar 17, 2020

Siron Clinical is very happy to welcome Maja Armitage to our team. Maja brings her considerable experience in clinical trial management to Siron Clinical. We sat down with her recently to talk about her skills, her achievements, and what she enjoys about her work.

Tell us a little about yourself, Maja

My name is Maja Armitage; I am 35 years old and living with my daughter Valerija who will turn 2 on 18th of March and my husband Damian in Noordwijk; which is a nice village at the sea. My parents are from former Yugoslavia and my husband is Indonesian, partially Dutch and has an English father, so we have an extended family over the whole world.

Originally, I studied clinical neuropsychology at Leiden University where I received a degree; I was more fascinated by the research side in my studies. Nowadays I am working in the clinical environment for about almost 9 years and I love the work that I do.

What is your role at Siron Clinical, and what attracted you to it?

My role is that of a CTM (clinical trial manager). What was attractive was the diversity of the role, and the ability to work in a team but also keep ownership and responsibility.

What do you want to achieve at Siron Clinical?

I would like to contribute to the growth of Siron Clinical as an international CRO with emphasis on complex studies; and develop more skills as a CTM at Siron Clinical; work with a variety of studies/phases of studies.

What kind of project excites you?

Especially the more challenging projects trigger my excitement. Challenging in patient enrolment, recruitment of new sites or finding the best solutions for ‘bottle-neck-issues’. I am more into complex studies, as they require more in-depth knowledge concerning the IMP, study procedures and background ; but if I only consider the fields of research that excite me, I must say oncology, neurology and medical device – although I must say I have some affections for dermatology also.

What do you do to unwind?

Most of all I love reading books and watching a good movie. However, I need to be sportive also, so I try to visit the local gym twice a week and I do yoga once a week. We live nearby the sea, so we love to go for long walks with the family.

Welcome to the team, Maja, and thanks for taking the time to let us get to know you!
